| Drug smugglers are endlessly creative when it comes to inventing ways to move marijuana, cocaine and other contraband from Mexico into the United States. In the latest innovation uncovered by law enforcement, smugglers in the border town of Nogales, Arizona were bringing drugs into the U.S. for the cost of a quarter. The parking meters on International Street, which hugs the border fence in Nogales, cost 25 cents. Smugglers in Mexico tunneled under the fence and under the metered parking spaces, and then carefully cut neat rectangles out of the pavement. Their confederates on the U.S. side would park false-bottomed... |

Need Help Choosing an MP3 player

| Help, I have promised my niece an MP3 player for her graduation and have found the selection available completely overwhelming. A friend has recommended the Zen by Creative Labs but a quick check of their sight revealed that there are dozens of Zen and MuVo models to choose from. I have found that I do not like the i-pod because once the battery recharger fails you have to send your unit back to Apple and recieve a refurbished unit as a replacement. I want something that produces a good quality sound, has a long life, can be repaired without sending... |

| One exciting thing about the free market is that you can't predict what the market will create. Big-government advocates tell you exactly what will happen when their plans work (as if they actually would work!), but we who trust the free market can only say that people will compete and good ideas will win. We do know that competition works. It works because it gives people the chance to be creative... |

Industry demand for high-capacity flash memory currently outstrips supply and this will impact availability of our... |

The 5GB Zen Neeon players, which have been shipping for two months, contain the Wullik.B e-mail worm, also known as Rays.A, F-Secure said. The worm is buried in a file in the Neeons file system. The worm will not infect PCs unless a user browses through the files on the player and clicks on the infected file, F-Secure said. | Composing can be a lonely job. Hour after hour, the composer sits at a piano, trying to bring out the music in his head. But for Aaron Copland, composition was about the people. Working with people, learning from them, befriending them, organizing and mentoring them. His enthusiasm for combining music with humanity assured his place in music history almost as much as his compositions. "As organizer, teacher, propagandist, critic, lecturer and expositor, he has been by far the most voluble, articulate and respected American musician of his time," wrote Harold Schonberg in The New York Times in 1970. His ballets... |

You probably don't know much about Free Republic unless you are a right-wing lunatic. Free Republic is so far right that wing-nut gay muckraker Matt Drudge and Lucianne Goldberg, one of the architects of the Clinton-Monica Lewinsky brouhaha, both left the site in 1999 because it was too extreme, even for them. In the years since, the site has become the contemporary version of a marathon meeting of the old John Birch Society and... |

| WASHINGTON (AFP) - Federal Reserve (news - web sites) chairman Alan Greenspan (news - web sites) made a fresh warning on protectionism, saying moves in that direction would be "destabilizing" and cost US jobs. Greenspan, in remarks prepared for a speech in Dallas, Texas, issued the second warning in three weeks on protectionism, again without specifically mentioning US administration policies. But his comments came just after a trade war was narrowly averted when Washington backed down over steel imports, and with other trade issues simmering between the US and its trade partners. IDEAS? Thank you, Mr. Jefferson! Many of us agree that 'ideas' represents an anemic effort by the U.S. in dealing with Iraq and other Middle East countries - and a few others. Pushing a concept of 'democracy' is rightly perceived as merely 'political' and thus unacceptable under their philosophical and religious criteria and appears to be shallow when compared to America's true potential offering to the world out of our unique founding and inventive creative-growth values and experiences. The definitive in human nature is the ability to make choices at the individual level. (Is there any other kind of human?...
